THERAPIST, OWNER

Tara Doudy, M.A. LPC

(She/her)

At some point in our life we will all face grief, death, loss, a break up, even trauma, and also a chance to rebuild. As we come across these human challenges, we can grow, heal, and rebuild from them as long as we are willing to have the intention to be the author of our new story. Tara Doudy is here as both your counselor and a witness as you engage in creating and living your new story.

Tara provides care to a variety of clients and symptoms, and these areas are her specialties:

  • Adolescent Counseling: LGBTQ+ issues, transgender affirming care, eating disorder and body image issues, self harm, suicidal thoughts, crisis, ADHD related issues, anxiety, depression

  • Individual Counseling: sexual assault, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relationship issues, attachment insecurities, borderline personality disorder, grief and loss, crisis, codependency, anxiety and depression.

  • Couples Counseling: communication issues, affair recovery, codependency recovery, polyamorous couples, sex therapy, pre-marital therapy, LGBTQ+ couples.

Tara customizes her approach for each client and couple. Her most important priority is ensuring each client is seen, heard and validated before focusing on intervention or theory. Theoretical approaches Tara incorporates in her practice include narrative therapy, existentialism, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing.

Tara’s experience and education as a therapist is local to Colorado— she has a B.A. in Psychology from University of Colorado Boulder, and a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University. She has a combined five years of experience as a therapist- beginning in 2019 at a sexual assault crisis agency, then a Fort Collins based agency, prior to beginning Radical Roots Counseling in 2022.
